Birth Doula
You deserve someone in your corner
Think of your doula as your biggest advocate someone who is entirely in your corner from the moment you meet her to the moment you bring your baby home.
What is a birth doula?
A doula is a trained professional who supports you physically, emotionally, and informationally before, during, and after birth. She complements your medical team. While they focus on the clinical side, she focuses entirely on you. Your comfort. Your confidence. Your birth.

Continuous presence from the moment she arrives through delivery
Physical comfort measures including positioning, breathing, and counter pressure

The support does not end when your baby arrives. And your TMV team remains available to you for six months beyond that.
What is included:
One postpartum follow-up visit

Birth and beyond
Your Questions, Answered
-
Think of her as your person. Before your due date, she sits with you, gets to know you, and helps you figure out what you actually want from your birth experience. She helps you build a plan that feels right and then she's right there with you during labor, through every moment, making sure your voice is heard and your family feels supported.
-
The earlier the better, ideally in your second trimester, around 20 weeks. This gives you and your doula time to build a real relationship before birth day, and plenty of time to talk through your birth preferences, whatever they look like. That said, if you're further along and just discovering doula support, reach out anyway. We are here to support you.
-
Absolutely. During your discovery call we'll make sure your doula is the right fit for your birth setting and preferences.
-
Absolutely a doula supports your partner too. Birth can be intense and unpredictable, and having an experienced professional in the room means your partner can be fully present without having to manage logistics or know what to do next.
-
Yes. TMV doulas are on-call for your birth window and will be available when you need them. We discuss availability and backup protocols during your discovery call so you always know what to expect.
-
Your doula is still there for you. Whether your C-section is planned or unexpected, she'll help you prepare for what to expect, advocate for your preferences in the OR, support your partner, and be by your side in recovery.
-
That's completely your choice. Our role is not to guide you toward any particular kind of birth. It's to make sure you feel informed, comfortable, and confident in whatever decisions feel right for you and your body. There is no right or wrong way to give birth. We are here to support you!
-
Absolutely. Our doulas are experienced in supporting families through VBAC births and understand the unique preparation, mindset, and advocacy that comes with it. Research shows that continuous doula support is associated with higher VBAC success rates. We'll make sure your doula is the right fit for your history and your goals and that you feel fully supported every step of the way.
-
Yes. We take backup coverage seriously at TMV. In the rare event that your primary doula is unavailable when you go into labor, a backup doula steps in and you'll have had the chance to meet her before your due date.
-
Every doula in our network goes through a thorough interview and reference check before her first placement. We look for experience, values alignment, and the kind of presence that makes a real difference in the room. We don't just vet credentials, we make sure she's someone we'd want supporting our own family, whatever kind of birth that family is planning.
-
A birth doula is with you through pregnancy preparation, labor, and delivery. A postpartum doula comes in after your baby arrives, supporting your recovery, helping with newborn care, and making sure you and your family find your footing in those first weeks at home. TMV offers both, and many families choose to work with us through both stages.
